Just five months later, with only a couple months of warning time, DE posts on the steam forums that those servers will be shut down now, AND goes back to the old advertising from the previous sale and altered the text in the last line to now read "its multiplayer servers will remain live for an indefinite, unspecified, amount of time."įrom the timing of when people talked about this on the steam forums, it actually happened sometime after June 4th, but before June 7th. Nspace goes out of business more than two years agos, DE takes over all the social media keys for defunct company.ĭE pushes more sales of SCL on Steam via advertising that specifically stated "its multiplayer servers will remain live indefinitely. I'm sure the timing of this thread post right before the big content drop didn't do it any favors, but I am amazed that a community that had been so passionate in the past about helping DE get their Pay to win elements ironed out and removed from their business model, and generally being such a helpful group of gamers dedicated to fairness in business practices, doesn't see the injustice of this.ĭE are the publishers of Sword Coast Legends, Nspace was the developers. Well, to say that I am incredibly disappointed in the Warframe community and DE is an understatement. I have since located the identity of the Digital Extremes person who was placed in charge of SCLs social media back in 2016, Drew, and now have PMed him as well, and sent him a link back to this thread so it can serve as a detailed repository for the issues the SCL community has with having it's servers shut off, after literally being told that these servers would never be shut off.Īnd I'm not using literally incorrectly here. It would have been incorrectly placed in any other section of the forums, which are explicitly about Warframe. I posted this here only after I exhausted attempts to PM community professionals. This is not meant to be hostile, but just to say you're barking up the wrong tree here. The only people likely to read this are Warframe players and a few moderators, none of whom has anything to do with development or maintainance of any of DE's games. No one from DE's staff are reading posts in the community's off-topic section of the forums. I don't know where to take these concerns, and time is pressing. I originally sent this as a PM rather than a post to avoid an Off-topic stink in the Warframe forums, but. How on Earth can EA be treating gamers better than DE?Īgain, apologies if this is in any way annoying to you, the reader, as a Warframe player. I mean, even the hated Electronic Arts has left servers up for communicating player data to keep DLC working in Kingdom's of Amalur: Reckoning. There are no more N-space Sword Coast Legends forums or website, or even a way for new players to make Sword Coast Legends accounts, and nobody has addressed those problems in the steam forums, not for many months. Moreover, as an online game, I was under the impression that all the characters I made were stored on the old N-space servers somewhere, in which case the game literally will no longer work at all without it's online component. I paid for a multiplayer game that would have servers up indefinitely, as stated by not only N-space devs, but by the Digital Extremes publishers who took over for them when N-space was no more, and even used this fact as a way to get more sales out of the title the last time it was placed on sale. Now, I purchased the game in early access and supported it and enjoy the game, but I have strong concerns about this type of thing. Our publishing contracting is ending, but although Sword Coast Legends will no longer be available to purchase after December, its multiplayer servers will remain live indefinitely.Īnd this information, was edited six months later to instead read, "its multiplayer servers will remain live for an indefinite, unspecified, amount of time.", and this was proven as fact by the internet wayback machine. Purchase Sword Coast Legends now at 67% off and receive the Rage of Demons DLC for free. Gather your party for epic adventures before Sword Coast Legends disappears forever at the end of December, 2017!
